Death Stranding slated for release on PC Game Pass on 23rd August

It is indeed the end days, as Death Stranding is heading to PC Game Pass. The 2019 PlayStation 4 exclusive has in recent years been remastered for the PS5 and ported over to PC, but this upcoming release marks a significant shift in how console exclusives are handled.

To clarify though, the PC version of the game is not handled by Kojima Productions, but rather 505 Games.

The PC Pass version of Death Stranding is coming next week, 23rd August to be precise, but at the time of writing there is no indication that it will be making its way over to Xbox Game Pass. With PlayStation still in control of how and indeed where the game is played on console, an Xbox Series X|S version is highly unlikely at this stage.

That said, the PC Game Pass Twitter account delighted in the news.

Whether there is indeed interest in playing the title on PC Game Pass given it is a few years old now and has a rather Marmite-eque effect on first-time players, remains to be seen.

That said, with Kojima Productions planning to work with Xbox Studios on a mystery project despite being loyal to camp PlayStation, this could indeed be the start of a change in strategy.

Add to that the fact that Sony has designed its own PC Launcher platform and the company could indeed be embracing PCs as a new avenue. How Microsoft will feel about it is unclear for now.

What is known is that Sam Porter Bridges and BB are coming to PC Game Pass. How long it will be available has not been disclosed at the time of writing.
