Elden Ring gets 400K reviews without ever going on sale

After launching in February this year Elden Ring has passed another threshold on Steam as it surpasses 400 000 reviews.

At the time of writing the latest FromSoftware game has garnered 400 339 reviews. Of these, 90 percent are positive leaving Elden Ring with a “Very Positive” overall review rating.

This is one step below the “Overwhelmingly Positive” which we recently saw for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered which passed the 20 000 review mark a few days ago.

Reading some of the reviews for Elden Ring and there’s a massive swathe of opinions to be had, as you’d expected from four hundred thousand differing opinions.

As the negative reviews are the minority here reading them is interesting too. Looking past the joke reviews which are negative, many players point out technical issues. As these reviews have been left recently it seems even a few months of patches haven’t ironed out all the kinks. While the reviews which don’t agree with the game design likely won’t change, hopefully the technical problems can be addressed in the future.

What makes this huge number of reviews for Elden Ring impressive is the fact that, since launching, it has never been discounted and has remained at full price for its entire life.

There have been several Steam sales and events since February but FromSoftware and co-publisher Bandai Namco have chosen not to participate in any of them.

Despite this the game has consistently remained a top seller on the platform though we have to believe that there’s still a holdout of many people who want to buy the game but they’re waiting for a sale.

We’re not sure when we will see that happen or what the discount will look like, but a previous game from FromSoftware – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – is currently 50 percent off on Steam and is the third top selling game on the store right now.
