Massive trade-in discounts from iStore, iPhone 15 for R7 500

  • iStore South Africa has upped the value of trade-ins for older iPhone models, making it easier to buy the latest iPhone 15.
  • Shoppers can get back as much as R24 000 for the iPhone 14.
  • It is important to note that any damage sustained to the phone being traded in will significantly reduce how much money you will get back.

In a bid to make the latest smartphones from Apple more accessible to South Africans, the local iStore says that it has launched “trade-in values that are the highest in the world” so that people with older iPhones pay less when upgrading to the iPhone 15.

The new smartphone launched on the ides of September, bringing a host of improvements over the iPhone 15, including Dynamic Island and improved specifications to make the most of all the new features of iOS 17 like NameDrop, Contact Posters, new widgets, badges, and more.

Also up for price reductions thanks to trade-ins are the iPhone 15 Pro, and Pro Max. These premium editions feature extreme performance potential thanks to the brand’s own A17 Pro chips, and a tougher and lighter casing made out of titanium.

iStore South Africa says that for the iPhone 14, shoppers can get back as much as R24 000 in their bid to buy the new iPhone 15, which starts at R21 999 for the lowest specced version, and up to R30 788 for the highest. Shoppers can also get back R14 500 for a 128GB iPhone 13 model, which means they only have to pay R7 499 for an iPhone 15 with the same storage configuration.

Or pay R10 199 only when trading in an iPhone 13 Pro for R17 500. Additionally, increased trade-in values for the iPhone 12 (get back an extra R2 000) and 13 (get back an extra R3 500) still apply as the iPhone 15 launch window is still open.

It is important to note, however, that these prices stipulated by iStore are for near-mint condition iPhone models. Any damage faced by your older iPhone 14 or 13 including cracks on the screen, or any other issue will drastically reduce the money you will be getting via trade-in.

While these latest trade-in values provide great deals for the latest iPhone, realistically only a handful of people will be able to take advantage because of this.

“iStore has seen a growing trend where customers are moving away from funding their device through a cellular contract, by using iStore’s high trade in values to buy iPhone outright. With our new trade-in values, customers can upgrade to the latest iPhone 15 while significantly reducing the financial commitment that comes with a long-term cellular contract,” said Chris Dodd, CEO of iStore in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“We recognise that cellular contracts limit upgrade and payment flexibility, which is why we are championing a better way to buy an iPhone.” Dodd adds that the trade-ins allow for a more flexible and affordable way to get the latest iPhone without needing to sign a long-term contract.

The best way to see how much you can get back for an older iPhone model is to head to the nearest iStore, but interested shoppers can also get a ballpark quote on the official iStore site here.
