Last night Netflix released a trailer titled 2022 Movie Preview for all the original content it has on the cards for the coming year.

While it would not normally be anything out of the ordinary for the streaming platform to showcase what’s to come, this preview felt distinctly different given how chock a block it was with A list Hollywood talent, with as many as 12 big budget projects highlighted.

As such, this felt less like a preview and more like a statement of intent from the streaming giant, as each platform tries to carve out its own niche. So while Disney+, slated to land locally later this year, is all about Marvel and Star Wars, it looks like Netflix is the new home of Hollywood blockbusters.

As far as actors go, it looks like the legal team at Netflix has been hard at work ironing out contracts, given the names being bandied about in the company’s press release for the 2022 Movie Preview.

“Get ready for pulse-pounding action with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in The Gray Man, or an epic sci-fi adventure with Halle Berry in The Mothership. Mystery and sleuthing abound with Daniel Craig back in the follow-up to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, and Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill return as sibling detectives in Enola Holmes 2,” it highlighted.

“Take in a double feature with Adam Sandler (Hustle and Spaceman), and Jamie Foxx (Day Shift and They Cloned Tyrone), or crack up with comedic duos Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy (You People), Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg (Me Time), and a stop-motion reunion with Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key (Wendell & Wild),” it added.

Out of everything we saw, it is probably The Gray Man and Knives Out 2 that have piqued our interest the most.

Either way though, it looks like Netflix’s answer to slowing user growth is to bring every Hollywood A lister to its platform.
