htxt.africast – DStv and the password sharing caper

As we say goodbye to February 2022 the africast is back and, while there’s obviously much bigger things to talk about, we’re focusing on something locally with DStv killing password sharing for streaming.

As for news we start this week with The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2 which has us hooked again and reminds us why we played in the first place. With a lot of great gameplay and some of the best voice acting in the series, now is the perfect time to jump back in (or for the first time).

Meanwhile Huawei seems to have gotten some of the legal heat off of them as they enter talks with the Department of Labour about the number of South Africans the local arm of the company has. This is not the last we have heard of the situation and we expect more to develop soon.

Lastly for news it’s Street Fighter 6 which was revealed with a teaser that had some nice music, even though we only heard a short amount of it. After endless searching Capcom revealed to us that this music has not been revealed yet and more news about it won’t be available until earliest June.

Going back to DStv now and the service has cracked down on “piracy” by no longer allowing the sharing of passwords. This has caused an uproar with consumers locally and for good reason as this does nothing but force those who want to keep watching to either buy their own subscriptions or to simply stop watching.
