htxt.africast – Samsung’s new phones are here

The first truly big tech event of the year is here as Samsung unveils their new devices and this latest episode of the africast is here to examine things.

Starting with news, however, and Samsung competitor Apple has made its AirTags easier to find for the unsuspecting, which is great for cases of stalking, but makes the product near useless for tracking stolen goods.

In the world of teaching kids to code a local startup called Mindjoy is seeking to make it fun and, after sitting in on a session, we’d say it’s on the right track.

Lastly for news the Department of Basic Education (DBE) has removed the social distancing rules for schools leaving only a select few measures in place to contain COVID-19 in education environments.

Returning to Samsung and the latest batch of phones and we found ourselves wondering what the real hook is here to get people buying, but couldn’t find one. Are we wrong about this or is it a broader problem in the industry?

As always we have links to all the stories discussed below but you’ll find more than average this week as our coverage of the new Samsung devices has been exhaustive.
